Kelly Wiens Fundraising Golf Tournament

If you have been in an arena or at a baseball diamond in the Eastman area it is very likely that you have crossed paths with Kelly Wiens. Kelly is from Kleefeld and has been highly involved in minor hockey and minor baseball for many years, as a player, coach & board member. We are hoping to draw on some of the support that Kelly has provided others over the years in these roles to help him in his current situation.

The last couple of years have been very challenging for Kelly and his family due to his ongoing battle with cancer. He was diagnosed with Cancer in the winter of 2020 and his battle included chemotherapy treatments, and bouts with Covid and Pneumonia. In March of this year, he received word that the tumors were growing, and treatments would need to continue. After another hospital stay with pneumonia in April, the family made the decision to see a naturopath doctor in Winnipeg who works alongside conventional cancer treatment to help build up Kelly's immunity to enable him to start chemotherapy again. As you can imagine the costs of these additional treatments, transportation, and time away from work are starting to add up for the family.

Kelly’s family and friends have been very supportive but expanding that circle of support would be greatly beneficial. A group of friends have gotten together to organize a fundraising golf tournament for Kelly on September 15th at the La Broquerie Golf Course at 1:00PM. Kelly has maintained a smile, a positive attitude, and a great sense of humour through any challenge thrown at him the last 2 years and we feel there is no better way to share those traits and support a worthy cause than a day on the golf course. All proceeds raised by the golf tournament will go directly to Kelly to help support his treatments.
